Bulacan, Philippines -- Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Company, Inc. (Philippine Prudential) President and CEO and La Salle Alumnus Gregorio D. Mercado was recently awarded by the De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) for being among those who have contributed generously to nation-building as a Gawad Kalinga (GK) Partner. Likewise, his son, Philippine Prudential Vice President and Head of Finance Gregorio E. Mercado, Jr., also a La Sallian, received the same distinction.  The awarding was held during the formal launch of the partnership between DLSAA and GK called “Partnership Towards Nation-Building” held at Gawad Kalinga’s Enchanted Farm in Angat, Bulacan.

Present during the event to present the certificate of recognition to the awardees were De La Salle University President and Chancellor Bro. Ricardo Laguda, FSC and DLSAA President Dr. Derrick Yu.  Also in attendance was GK Founder Antonio “Tito Tony” Meloto.

Both Mercados, father and son, have been passionate and active supporters of Gawad Kalinga since the late 1990s through their individual projects.  Eventually, they extended this by making GK part of their Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Efforts, particularly by building the Philippine Prudential – AMPAP GK Village in Camarin, Caloocan City. Additionally, the elder Mercado also expanded his Gawad Kalinga undertakings in organizations such as the Philippine Life Insurance Association (PLIA) and the Rotary Club of Makati.
